My New Obsession

About a month ago, I discovered a blog and I am absolutely in love with it! If you're familiar with the blogosphere, you've probably already heard of it. Knock Off Wood has only been going since October 2009, but it is already getting a million hits. I dream and drool over all of the projects. I've even considered having our date night become a Home Depot run followed by a 2-hour building session. Sounds like fun doesn't it!

The reason I love the blog, well, to put it in the blog author's own words, "For me, it's about saving money. You might save a couple dollars making your own cards. You might save a hundred dollars sewing your own curtains. You will save thousands building your own furniture."

Since I love this site so much, I thought I would pass it along. Maybe we can have a building contest?

Okay Dad, this is for You

Apparently, I need to post more photos and videos of the kids on the blog. Sheesh! What do you think this is, a family blog? Alright, alright. So, I've been busy taking pictures of the kids and a video for your viewing pleasure [Dad]. More to come...

What's New Around Here

For Christmas, George and I purchased an XBox 360 for our family. We bought it for several reasons (Rock Band anyone?) but one of the main reasons is so that we can watch Netflix movies from the TV. However, in order to do that you need an internet connection to the console and an XBox Live gold subscription. We didn't have either, until I realized we had a 30-day subscription that came with our XBox 360. So, for Valentine's Day, I purchased a wireless XBox 360 thingy (come on, I'm not that technical!) and we've put it to good use over the last week.

While browsing the Netflix movies, George found Voltron for Jaren to watch. Oh. My. Goodness. That kid is entranced! He's watched at least 6 episodes in a 3-day period and he's even having dreams about Voltron. One night, he sternly and very seriously said to George, "Daddy, you're not going to work tomorrow. You're going to watch Voltron with me." They have watched all the shows together since it was one of George's favorite childhood TV shows. It's great that they can bond over this, but I have to be careful because Jaren has begun to act a little funny--like saying this as a woman was passing us in the store, "Mom, the human is staring at me."

Now all Netflix needs to do is make Transformers available so that Uncle Steve can be proud!

Valentine's Day

I made these Valentine cards for my children to hand out to their preschool friends. I found the idea over at familyfun.go.com, but I didn't care too much for their template. So, I dabbled in Photoshop and came up with these for my boys. That was the easy part. The hard part was cutting out 18 1 1/2 " hearts from painted contact paper. But the end result was just as I expected and I'm probably way more excited about the card and how it turned out than the kid who received it. A girl can be proud of her work, right?

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's day.

Our New Neighbor

Yep, we live in Wyoming. How do you like your neighbors?
