Need a Laugh?

The kids were hilarious this evening.  I prepped the boys for Mother's day tomorrow since I don't want the day to be a bust, and Jaren asked if there was a sister's day, brother's day and a daddy's day.  I explained to him why we celebrate Mother's day and Father's day, and the next thing he said gave me a good chuckle.  He said, "Mom, there should be a chocolate day so that we can appreciate chocolate too"! I think he's on to something.

About an hour and half after I tucked the kids in bed, I came up from my cave to take Eddie outside to go potty.  While I was waiting, I suddenly heard noises coming from upstairs. So, I went to investigate and I found Dallin sprawled across his bed, lying on his back and kicking the walls.  It's 9:45 PM, so naturally I'm a little curious why he's having trouble sleeping.  So I ask him and he says, "Mom, can you put up the Christmas tree?" Umm, random and no, but it was so funny.  When they catch you off-guard like that, it's hard to be upset with them. Gotta love 'em!

Abracadabra

The other day as I was getting ready in the morning, Dallin walked into the bathroom holding a remote.  He pointed it at himself in the mirror, said with gusto, "Abracadabra", closed his eyes and then bowed his head.  He then opened his eyes really wide and said, "Mommy, I turned myself off!".  It was so freaking hilarious!  Oh, how I needed that laugh!

We Love Moments Like These

You can't help but get the giggles!

Dallin and His Shoe Fetish

All kids go through this, right? I remember Jaren having a shoe fetish too, but it stopped at his own shoes. Dallin is constantly putting shoes on. Whatever he sees, it goes on his feet. He has tried on so many shoes, we have finally decided to capture a few of the funny moments.

Our Carnivorous Snowman

Jaren and Frosty
I'm a little behind and should have posted this photo last week. It was taken on April 24. The snow was beginning to melt from the big snow storm we had a few days before and Jaren was very persistent that we build a snowman. So, he and I rolled up some snow at 7:00 o'clock at night, placed a few rocks and a carrot here and there and wallah...we had ourselves a snowman...almost. We couldn't figure out what to do for his mouth, so I thought it would be a good idea to grab some food coloring. I carved out a little space for the mouth so the food coloring would be contained and this is the result. I should've taken pictures the next day. It was awful! Frosty had dribbled all over his front. It really looked like he had eaten one of the squirrels that like to frequent our yard and forgotten to wipe his face and chest. I was helping out a friend the next day and when she came in, she said "Cute snowman". I was like "Oh yeah, thanks. Jaren and I made it yesterday", not knowing how rabid Frosty then appeared. Maybe next year (I'm praying it won't snow again this spring) we'll do something different about that mouth!

10 Things I Never Thought I Would Say

Sometimes, Jaren reminds me of another busy little boy!
  1. "Eww, gross! Don't eat your poop!"
  2. "Don't stick your fork in your eye."
  3. "We eat with our hands, not our feet."
  4. "Stop kicking your brother in the head."
  5. "Mommies color their [toe]nails, not little boys."
  6. "Please don't jump on the dog!"
  7. "Get your finger out of your nose."
  8. "Only mommy can feed the baby mommy's milk."
  9. "Sit down, fold your arms, and be still... forever!" (Yes, I was having a hard day!)
  10. "You better stop or else..."

The Apple Bandit

Has this happened to anyone else? Normally, our fruit stays on the countertop for obvious reasons. It's been a while since Jaren has done anything like this, so I ignored common sense and placed them on the table. You see, those apples were looking so pretty, and I was feeling quite accomplished after cleaning up after dinner. I thought, "These apples sure would look good on the table". And they remained untouched and pretty for about 13 hours. After my shower this morning, this is what I saw. Lesson learned.

Here are some photos that I wanted to squeeze in of the boys.

Backseat Driver

Well, it's official. Jaren is a backseat driver. I thought this wouldn't happen until he is 25 when he starts driving, but no such luck. Whenever I am driving the kids around, Jaren likes to tell me which way to go, "This way mom". I indulge him and ask "This way Jaren?" to which he replies "Yes mom" or "No, no, no". If the answer is no, I try to explain to him why I am heading a certain direction. Of course he is not interested in my explanation and persists in telling me to head the opposite direction I intend to go. I ignore him. He continues, "No, this way". I ignore him again. He then proceeds to throw a gargantuan fit. Finally after several grueling minutes I calmly turn around and say "I am the driver Jaren, and I go which way I want to go". I then proceed to drive "my way".

The Produce Section

The other day, Dallin, Jaren and I were shopping in the commissary and I decided to let Jaren be a free man (he promised to be a good boy). Usually, I push him in the cart, a stroller, or use a monkey harness because it's just too darn hard to keep him from running off, touching things, and running in front of other people's carts. So, we were in the produce section and Jaren was just thrilled to see all of his favorite fruit. He saw the strawberries first and exclaimed "Mom, mom, stwaberries!". He then picked it up and put it in our basket. I was okay with this because strawberries were on sale and I like them. So, I kept shopping. I picked up some grapes and said "Look Jaren, grapes!", to grab his attention and keep him from touching all the produce. We put it in the cart together. I continued on grabbing cucumbers, tomatoes and onions. Then, when my back was turned, I heard Jaren exclaim, "Mmm, apples." Before I knew it, he had picked out a red bell pepper and taken a bite out of it. After a moment, he scrunched up his face, spit it out, and said "Uugh, yucky apple." I couldn't help but laugh, even though I was a bit annoyed that I'd have to buy it. At least he is eating his vegetables!

Problems Sleeping

Recently, Jaren has decided to launch himself officially into the terrible two's. Although he has been throwing temper tantrums months before he was officially two, he would still listen to me and go to bed for naps and bedtime. Recently however, Jaren has decided to say "no, no, no" to everything, become physical with George, Eddie and I, kick and scream when I put on shoes or clothes on that he doesn't want to wear, and will fight sleep with all of his toddler will power, until he's passed out on the floor either next to the shut door or in the middle of the room. Here's a picture of Jaren in early January. Although it has been a bit of challenge to deal with a testy toddler, he does have his sweet moments. Tonight as I was putting him to sleep, I laid my head on his pillow and he began singing to me and stroking my face to help me fall asleep (things that I have recently resorted to in order to get him to sleep). It was a tender moment!

Does This Remind anyone of Clifford?

If anyone has ever read or seen Clifford, the giant red dog, doesn't this photo resemble it? Eddie looks like he could eat Jaren! Luckily, that didn't happen! Posted by Picasa

Typical Montana Sign

Our family took this picture as they were driving to Great Falls. Now all I need to do is take pictures of all the mullets and casinos around town, and you'll experience Montana too!!
